Keyboard shortcuts

Here is the list of the main keyboard shortcuts available in Notepan.

Important
  • The shortcuts displayed below are for Windows. If you are on MacOS, replace the Ctrl key with the Cmd key instead.

  • Some functionalities have 2 shortcuts in order to give you an alternative in case a key doesn't exist on your keyboard (for example Insert key doesn't exist on Mac, so we propose you Enter as a second option).

To add a bar at the end of the tablature, all you have to do is keep moving with the right arrow key. Once you reach the end of the sheet it will automatically add a new bar.

Notation

Notes0-9
DingD
Ding tonefieldDD*
Palm muteP
Tak (Ding shoulder)T
FistF
SlapS
KnockK
Ghost note
Octave harmonicO
Fifth harmonicH
Muted noteM
Finger rollR
Grace note / FlamG

DD* : Double press the D key. Press again to switch back and forth between ding and ding tonefield notation.

tip
  • You can also use the 0 key instead of D for ding and ding tonefield notations. This is particularly useful is you are using a numpad as it saves you from moving your hands all over the keyboard. When used after another number, 0 will act as a number as well (to write 10 and 20).

  • On the numpad, * can be used instead of S for Slap. Again, it is more convenient thanks to the proximity with the numeric keys.

Playback

Play / Pause the playbackSpace
Enable / disable loopF7

*Only works during playback. When not in playback, these shortcuts do something different instead (see the Tablature editor shortcuts).
